Kahlil Gibran has become one of the most widely read authors of modern times. Much of his popularity derives from his philosophy of love and reconciliation, which is so gracefully expressed in such books as The Prophet, The Procession, Secrets of the Heart, Spirits Rebellious, and Tears and Laughter.

In the present book Mr. Sherfan examines Gibran's philosophy of love and delineates the ways in which it contributed to the molding of Gibran's literary point of view and of his life style. He also shows how this philosophy is a valid and meaningful one for man and why it awakens the positive response it does in millions of readers.
Andrew Dib Sherfan is Lebanese, as was Gibran. He has studied in Beirut, Rome, Jerusalem and London, and is presently teaching in Manila. He attended the Gibran International Festival at Beirut in May, 1970, as a representative of the Philippines.
