Everything That Rises Must Converge by Flannery O'Connor [FIRST EDITION / FOURTH PRINTING]
Everything That Rises Must Converge by Flannery O'Connor
FIRST EDITION / 4TH PRINTING [1965] FARRAR, STRAUS & GIROUX
An extremely readable, albeit flawed, copy of the rare TRUE First Edition of this classic collection.
DUST JACKET is in tact and unclipped with some edge-wear & torn edges, most of which have been sealed. Tanning & visible water stains along top edge of DJ, as well as underside. Water stain also visible on top margin of front panel, beside price.
BOOK itself reads nicely with flaws: Cover is in relatively good shape. Cloth spine is clean with sharp, unfaded lettering, Boards of cover have tanning / discoloration along edges and some wear to outer edges.
INSIDE COVER, cracking to paper lining on spine; ADDITIONALLY: A light blue water stain on top margin of flyleaf. Also visible (to a far lesser degree) on next two pages [including title page.] Otherwise, PAGES are clean and unmarked with just a hint of subtle tanning.
EXTERIOR PAGE EDGES have discoloration along top edge & a mild water stain on outside edges of rear pages. *Neither visible on actual pages & does not effect reading.
This collection is an exquisite legacy from a genius of the American short story, in which she scrutinizes territory familiar to her readers: race, faith, and morality. The stories encompass the comic and the tragic, the beautiful and the grotesque; each carries her highly individual stamp and could have been written by no one else.
The stories include: Everything That Rises Must Converge, The Comforts of Home, A View of the Woods, Parker's Back, The Enduring Chill, Greenleaf, The Lame Shall Enter First, Revelation, and Judgment Day.
