Black Alice by Thom Demijohn [Co-written by Thomas M. Disch and John Sladek under the pseudonym Thom Demijohn.]

FIRST BOOK CLUB EDITION [1968] DOUBLEDAY & COMPANY

Hardcover with dust jacket.  Dust jacket is in nice shape; bright and in tact but with foxing to underside and browning to edges of panels.

Rust colored leatherette cover looks new; however pages have foxing along top page edges on the exterior [see last photo] as well as a bit of a musty "old book smell."   Pages look and read like new.

Co-written by Thomas M. Disch and John Sladek under the pseudonym Thom Demijohn.

Her captors conceive an ingenious way to make her invisible to police and federal agents by turning her skin brown, dying her hair and hiding her in a brothel run by an old black woman, somewhere near Norfolk. Slowly Alice adapts to her surprising new life. Then she finds out who was the instigator of her abduction. And real change begins...  - Bookshop Apocalypse
