Father Christmas by Raymond Briggs [FATHER CHRISTMAS #1]

U.S. FIRST EDITION • FIRST PRINTING [1973] COWARD MCCANN & GEOGHEGAN

True U.S. 1st from Raymond Briggs, published years before his classic The Snowman.

Hardcover with dust jacket in excellent condition.

Dust jacket is near mint; minimal shelf wear and some toning; price clipped front panel with a worn spot over original price remnant.  Now housed in a new Archival Quality jacket protector.

Book itself looks and reads like new; copyright page has a small spot of browning from binding at bottom of spine (only visible on that one page.  see photos.) -- otherwise pristine.

Raymond Briggs, creator of The Snowman, tells a magical Christmas story that will appeal to everyone who wants to believe in Santa Claus. Meet Father Christmas: a very human gift-giver with a tough job to do. You'll find out that he sometimes gets a little grumpy living at the icy North Pole and squeezing down chimneys, but he more than makes up for it in heart and humour. Raymond Briggs brings this endearing character to life in over 100 wonderfully illustrated vignettes that follow the adventures of Father Christmas on his big night of the year.
