Based on the play by Edward Knoblock, the Tony Award-winning musical set in a fictional Baghdad in the times of The Arabian Nights concerns a wily poet who talks his way out of trouble several times; meanwhile, his beautiful daughter meets and falls in love with the young caliph.

First produced on Broadway in 1953, Kismet was adapted for the silver screen in 1955 with a cast that included Howard Keel, Ann Blyth, Dolores Gray, and Vic Damone.
