ABOUT THE BOOK

Containing a fascinating variety of stories, from narratives by Holmes himself to a meeting with his brilliant brother and the climactic and seemingly fatal meeting between Holmes and the criminal mastermind Moriarity, this volume sealed Holmes' immortality as a literary figure.
Commissioned while The Strand Magazine was still publishing the previous set of Holmes short stories, the 11 adventures in Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes paint a fascinating portrait of the detective at his best. "The 'Gloria Scott'" treats the reader to an account of Holmes' very first case, which he stumbles upon when still an undergraduate. In "The Yellow Face," Holmes lends his help in solving a familial problem and finds himself uncharacteristically mistaken in his solution.

Also here is the famous tale "The Final Problem," which brings Holmes face to face with the evil Professor Moriarty, the "Napoleon of Crime."
