Lindy is so intent upon seeing Santa Claus that she gets in a box and mails herself to the North Pole. Keeping mum, she is mistaken for a doll and is put on the doll's shelf in Santa's workshop until Alfie, the chief elf, discovers that she is really a little girl-and a very homesick little girl, at that. The problem for Alfie and Lindy is -how do they get her back home to Columbus, Ohio in time for Christmas?
In verse and with delightful watercolors, Wendy Parker tells the story of Lindy's magical ride in Santa's sleigh as she journeys around the world on Christmas Eve, where she discovers the Christmas customs of Holland, Austria, China, and Mexico on her way home.
