The Crossing by Cormac McCarthy [THE BORDER TRILOGY #2]

FIRST EDITION • FIRST PRINTING [1994] ALFRED A. KNOPF

True 1st print.  Hardcover with dust jacket in very good condition.

Dust jacket is excellent; minor shelf wear and some creasing to lower part of front panel.  Ships in a new custom-fit brodart jacket protector!

Book itself is very good.  Clean boards with some mild shelf / rub wear.  Appears to be missing half-title page.  Otherwise excellent.

Pages read clean!   Very attractive copy.

In The Crossing--the second volume of the Border Trilogy--Cormac McCarthy fulfills the promise of All the Pretty Horses and at the same time gives us a work that is darker and more visionary, a novel with the unstoppable momentum of a classic Western and the elegiac power of a lost American myth.

In the late 1930s, sixteen-year-old Billy Parham captures a she-wolf that has been marauding his family's ranch. But instead of killing it, he decides to take it back to the mountains of Mexico. With that crossing, he begins an arduous and often dreamlike journey into a country where men meet like ghosts and violence strikes as suddenly as heat-lightning--a world where there is no order "save that which death has put there."
