Rare 1952 Book of the Month Club edition featuring the same jacket art as the first edition..  

Hardcover with dust jacket with deckle edged paper.

Dust jacket has some wear and tear:  a few torn edges and sealed tears but overall still strong and in tact; housed in a clear mylar jacket protector.

Book itself is near very good with flaws:  Binding is tight and navy boards look very sharp with some shelf wear; a few scratches.   

A few stains to text block with  *Pages 82 / 83 having staining on actual pages [see photos] -- The rest of the pages are bright, clean and unaffected. 

*Pages 104 / 105 have what appears to be a manufacturing defect, with excess paper attached to 105 that is missing from 104 [see photos]  -  All other pages are quite attractive and read nicely. 

The Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingway’s most enduring works.  Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for fiction, it is told in language of great simplicity and power.

The story of an old Cuban fisherman, down on his luck, and his supreme ordeal—a relentless, agonizing battle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. Here Hemingway recasts, in strikingly contemporary style, the classic theme of courage in the face of defeat, of personal triumph won from loss. Written in 1952, this hugely successful novella confirmed his power and presence in the literary world and played a large part in his winning the 1954 Nobel Prize for Literature.
